Tissu blanc, fleurs de mimosa et pierre dans la lumière.

Vanilla is not a destination. It is a point of view.

It is the origin of Oxymore’s research. We love its warmth, its depth, that recognisable sense of the pod that draws us back.

We seek an enveloping vanilla, with dryness and air. In its company, vetiver, flowers, spices and resins take on a different texture. Vanilla itself is transformed by the encounter.

Sometimes in the foreground, sometimes more discreet, vanilla connects the seven territories of the collection now taking shape.

All fragrance and triptych names presented here are codenames for now. They allow us to share the research as it unfolds; the final names will come later.

Seven territories to explore

Vanille Origine – Softness

The pod as a starting point. An enveloping, clearly defined vanilla, crossed by a dry, almost mineral tension. Preserving its comforting quality and giving it room.

Air – Breathing space

A slightly cool, mineral and woody sensation. Space around the materials, softness in the background. Here we explore what air can be in a fragrance: a presence sensed as much around us as on the skin.

Terre – Grounding

Dryness, greenness, roots. A vetiver that retains the texture of earth and growing things, meeting a sensual yet restrained vanilla. A way of feeling the ground beneath your feet again.

Poivre et cardamome dispersés sur une surface claire.

Épice – Momentum

The vibration of pepper, the cool warmth of cardamom. Spices that bring light and movement. The roundness of vanilla answers them without dimming their energy.

Encens – Introspection

Resins, dry woods, an almost mineral depth. And air flowing through it all. An incense that invites us to turn inward, its presence continuing into the final hours.

Mimosa – Quiet tenderness

A powdery flower, a softness almost like fabric. Something you might want to slip into. A slight spicy edge awakens this tenderness and gives it character.

Ylang – Luminous sensuality

A sensual, sunlit, creamy flower, crossed by the freshness of spice. Ylang retains its fullness, with enough air around it to keep its sensuality in motion.

Creation note. These codenames and portraits describe the directions of our research. The compositions continue to take shape, on blotters, on skin and through successive trials.

Three triptychs, freedom to move.

The collection is taking shape around three groups. Each brings together Vanille Origine and two fragrances that shift its energy. One shared origin, three ways of exploring a family of sensations.

Essentiel

Vanille Origine · Air · Terre

Softness, breathing space, grounding. Moving from the warmth of vanilla to the space of Air, then to the dry, green texture of Terre.

Mystique

Vanille Origine · Épice · Encens

Softness, vibration, introspection. Returning to a familiar warmth, giving it an edge, or entering the depth of resins.

Solaire

Vanille Origine · Mimosa · Ylang

Softness, tenderness, sensuality. Exploring what envelops us, from the pod to the powder of mimosa, through to the luminous fullness of ylang.

The triptych makes room for these variations. Three fragrances in dialogue, to move between according to the moment and the mood.

Materials have their own stories.

A material loved on its own can take over an accord. A blotter can convince us, and skin can change our minds. The next day sometimes reveals what we had not smelled the day before.

These discoveries feed the fragrances. We share them in the Journal.
